Eric gained a considerable strategic management and leadership experience within the retail industry for over 30 years, in an international scale. Armed with his insight in people management and a diverse cultural experience, he further expanded his portfolio of expertise by working with Euroasia Philippines, Inc. (EPI) an established manpower agency in the Philippines. His work with EPI mainly focused in providing HR Structure and developing HR policies and procedures for clients in Madagascar. It was during this time that he saw the increasing demand for a competent and efficient management team and the need to improve current recruitment practices being employed in the market. Back in the Philippines, the economy continues to grow and the need for a competitive labor force is ever increasing, paving way for Euroasia Executive Search to be born.

I have been around HR and labor professionals my whole life but it was with EESI that I actually learned to be a recruiter. My work entails that I wear many hats, and certainly, the recruiter hat has been one of them. Every so often, you meet people whose spark and passion for what they do is so apparent, you cannot help but feel inspired too. At times, you’ll find diamonds in the rough – people who surprise you for being unexpected and yet may just be the one you’re looking for. The thrill from new discoveries, the awe for others’ talents, the humility from rejection – these are what drives me as a recruiter.
Before going into sales, I was a recruiter. In fact, I started my professional career as a recruiter. I can say that it is an emotionally fulfilling job, allowing me to bridge client requirements and exceptional talent. It’s a service to the Filipino people – you help provide jobs and help them take care of their families. That’s what I like about my job.
A recruiter’s work, honestly speaking, can be stressful. And yet, it always comes with that feeling of fulfillment – whenever you help an organization find the person they need, or when a displaced professional gets the job offer to share with their hopeful family. That keeps me going. Iiyak sa hirap at stress, pero hindi susuko.
The best things about being in recruitment are that you develop yourself personally and professionally, and you change people’s lives. By guiding them to opportunities that fit their skills, expertise and experience, you help them achieve the very best for them.
Being a recruiter is a rewarding job. It is a mutual relationship between clients, the recruiter, and applicants. I grow as a recruiter, because there is always something to learn, whether the position I work on is something I know well or is new to me.
The best part about working in recruitment is the connections you can make. You will have the opportunity to learn about their journeys to becoming professionals in their respective fields. It’s interesting to learn all about various roles and how important they are to an organization.
What I love about working in this industry is that I get to know people! I’m an introvert but I get to know people with different personalities and different skills honed by their experiences. I get to learn how amazing they are in their respective fields, and how fulfilling it was for them to achieve what they worked hard for.
It feels good to connect with people despite being shy. It feels good to hear about their passion for what they do, what they want to get into, or just what drives them everyday. It feels good to help people reach their dream jobs and take that next step in their careers!
At first it was difficult for me to understand recruitment and how to do it. But as time went by, I got it and liked it. I was very shy when I first started. EESI is where I learned how to overcome my fear of talking to other people. This is where I learned – and still continue to learn – how to improve myself.
