The Senior EHST Officer will facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of workplace safety programs across QED’s projects.
This role will be focused on building and leading a strong EHST field team. The development of a robust field-based team shall be critical to the successful delivery of our desired project outcomes.
This role will also ensure that workers comply with company policies and government safety regulations.
Liaise with Safety Officers and Clients regarding any required legislative notice that must be communicated to the MGB Regional Director.
Ensure any required reporting to the Client/MGB is met for all field operations in the Philippines.
Provide direction to EHST Team and ensure that reporting standards are maintained across the group.
Champion the implementation of the electronic database platform for all EHST requirements
Facilitate and assist in incident/ accident investigation and reporting.
Ensure that field audits are conducted and monitor action items completion.
Liaise and assist Contract Managers/ Drill Supervisors in formulating impact-minimizing strategies from hazard identification and risk assessments.
Develop and facilitate new employee inductions and ongoing training.
Develop and execute health and safety plans for the workplace.
Ensure EHST Team monitors and updates the project site’s daily KPI.
Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law and regulations of the country.
Ensure that training is tracked to ensure all field personnel cover required field-based training.
Facilitate regular review meetings with the PNG management team to ensure that outstanding actions are tracked to completion.
Facilitate Task Hazard Analysis/Job Safety Analysis on changing work procedures or new tasks.
Monitor Standard Task Procedure/ Safe Work Procedures compliance on site.
Develop a new reporting package that monitors our required safety returns while utilizing the tools that MyOsh enables.
Assist Contract Manager with client liaison on any EHST requirement as necessary.
To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall functions commensurate with the grading and level of the responsibilities of QED.
Other duties as directed by your immediate supervisor and or management.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of any related course preferably BS. Engineering, Occupational Health, or any bachelor’s degree course in a related field.
Minimum 5 years experience as EHST Officer preferably in the Mining or Drilling Industry.
Knowledgeable in processing government-mandated SHE compliance and regulations;
Experience/trained in safety standards, particularly in ISO 9001,14001 and 45001
DOLE- accredited Safety Officer
