More employees in the Philippines are taking on part-time jobs to bolster their income and attain financial stability.

Specifically, 60% of employees in the Philippines are now engaged in some form of part-time work, with younger people being the most involved. Of the respondents involved in part-time work, 84% said the ongoing economic downturn has led to shifts in spending behaviour.

These findings from Agile Data Solutions also found that 78% of men and 76% of women with part-time jobs feel the need to save their income, with Gen Z and Millennials avoiding non-essential purchases. Furthermore, women tend to hold a single part-time job, while men often juggle two or more positions.

Financial independence is the top priority for 83% of Gen Z individuals (aged 18-25), compared to 76% of older generations (aged 41-60). On the other hand, older generations placed a greater emphasis on flexibility, with 47% considering it important, while only 25% of Gen Z respondents shared this sentiment.

Strong communication skills are essential for securing part-time employment, with 84% of women and 81% of men emphasizing their value. The survey also revealed that call centre roles are the most sought-after part-time positions, followed by virtual assistant roles, service crew positions, IT roles, and sales positions.

Furthermore, a work-from-home arrangement is the preferred working condition for individuals of all age groups, reported Philstar.
