Assistant Camp Manager

Job Description: 

The Assistant Camp Manager will support the Camp Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the camp facilities in Greece. This role involves ensuring adherence to camp rules, maintaining records, managing supplies, and supporting workers within the camp. The Assistant Camp Manager will also play a key role in monitoring health, overseeing facility maintenance, and ensuring camp
security, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of camp operations.

Adherence to Camp Rules

• Ensure all camp residents are fully aware of and adhere to established camp rules and regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure that rules are being followed, and report any violations to the Camp Manager for further action.
• Support the Camp Manager in enforcing disciplinary actions where necessary, maintaining a safe and orderly environment for all camp residents.

Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate records of camp occupancy, ensuring that all accommodation arrangements are up to date and that space is utilized efficiently.
• Keep detailed records of incidents, maintenance activities, and any issues that arise within the camp.
• Provide regular updates to the Camp Manager regarding occupancy levels, incidents, and the status of ongoing maintenance work.

Supplies Inventory

• Monitor and manage camp supplies, ensuring that essential items such as food, water, fuel, and cleaning materials are always available.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of supplies, identify shortages in advance, and coordinate with procurement teams to replenish stock.
• Ensure all supplies are stored securely and managed effectively to prevent waste or loss.

Assist Workers

• Serve as the first point of contact for workers within the camp, addressing any concerns or requests they may have regarding their living conditions or other camp-related matters.
• Provide support to new arrivals, helping them settle into the camp and become familiar with facilities, services, and rules.
• Assist workers in accessing medical support, transportation, or other services as required.

Health Monitoring

• Monitor the overall health and well-being of camp residents, ensuring they have access to necessary healthcare services.
• Conduct routine health checks and assist in the organization of health programs, safety drills, and first aid training for camp residents.
• Report any health-related issues to the Camp Manager, coordinating with medical personnel to provide prompt support where needed.

Facility Maintenance

• Oversee the maintenance of all camp facilities, ensuring that accommodations, utilities, common areas, and amenities are in good working condition.
• Identify areas requiring maintenance and coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule necessary repairs, minimizing disruption to residents.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and ensure that safety standards are consistently maintained.

Ensure Camp Security

• Work with security personnel to ensure the camp is secure at all times, monitoring access points and maintaining records of all visitors.
• Implement and enforce security protocols to protect both residents and camp assets, coordinating with the Camp Manager to address any security concerns.
• Ensure that all residents are familiar with emergency procedures, conducting drills and safety exercises as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is a plus
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in camp management or site operations.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping and supply management.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support workers and address their needs effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of health, safety, and facility maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Camp Manager and other teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Ability to work effectively with the Camp Manager and other staff, contributing to a supportive and cohesive team environment.
• Identifies potential issues in camp operations and works proactively to provide solutions.
• Ensures records are kept accurately and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, adapting to changes and addressing issues as they arise.
• Demonstrates ethical conduct in all activities, maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
